“Better” -Tom Baxter
0 playssee what I’m tryin’ to say is:
you make things better.
and no matter what the day is
with you here, it’s better.
Old/new homes
I am drinking an iced green tea, sitting at a Starbucks I’ve been to many times over the past four years as I traveled to and from school. I am waiting for my ipod to charge before I continue on the rest of this familiar path back to Waco. It’s a strange feeling, going to a place that has been home for what seemed like an eternity, but this time without responsibilities awaiting my arrival. Most of the familiar faces that welcomed me back will not be seen this time, as they have already moved on to new chapters of their lives, each making new homes of their own. Each moving on to the new faces that will soon become familiar to them, and a new building that will soon feel like home. It’s so interesting the different paths God takes each person. I am in a waiting period, myself, but am eagerly awaiting the next place I call home - the smells, the colors, the tastes, the sights, the people. Each will be new and different, and I will grow and change because of them. Until then, I am taking in each moment that I have, where I am, growing and changing all the while.
"The cross is not the terrible end to an otherwise God-fearing and happy life, but it meets us at the beginning of our communion with Christ. When Christ calls a man, he bids him come and die."
-Dietrich Bonhoeffer, “The Cost of Discipleship”Too good to keep to myself….
We waste our lives when we do not pray and think and dream and plan and work toward magnifying God in all spheres of life. God created us for this: to live our lives in a way that makes him look more like the greatness and the beauty and the infinite worth that he really is.
-John Piper, Don’t Waste Your Life
"Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded."
-James 4:7-8
in my heart, on repeat.
